Life is for the living

This is not meant to be a lazy post, but I read this article in the paper this morning, and as someone who no longer has either of my parents the sentiments in this simply resonated.  Like the author’s mum I love to celebrate occasions – large or small.  And like the author I used some of my modest inheritance to fulfil a couple of dreams.

My parents were very big on life is for the living.  My Dad was very firm about cremation; he did not believe that you remembered someone by visiting a gravestone, but rather you remember someone in an active way.  For me this is very true, my parents pop into my mind at different times for diverse reasons, happy and sad – or as this author borrowed from the Spanish, in sun and shadow.
